The aim of this block was to merge it with the one above (6) and below (4/8) following the yellow layer. We suspect that the yellow soil might be the leftovers from a mud brick wall but it is very difficult to tell at this stage.
The workmen did, however, cut it down quite far, until they found what they interpreted as a harder layer. The bottom of this block is therefore almost 20 cm under block 6. There are a lot of tiles now, with makes it seem as if we are in the same strata as the one found in block 6 and 10. One object, larger than the other, was found in the east end of the trench, this is either a tile or architectural terracotta (it proved to be the former, a top tile).
The bottom of this layer is almost in level with the bottom of block 4/top of block 8. No pottery was recorded (one undiagnostic piece found).
