This block was opened as we found the level of the yellowish soil which indicates where finds start to show up. We intended to go down to the top of the walls, but a layer of stones prevented us. Work was therefore concentrated at clearing, cleaning and defining this layer.

The soil around the packing was of the usual yellowish medium hard type found in the Stoa.

Finds were limited to pottery and tiles. No fine ware. Most of the material came from a level slightly lower than the stone layer itself (removed while defining the stone layer).

The stone layer was the only specific feature found in this block. It reminds one of the “stone collapse” in A003 2011. I find it very plausible that a wall is hidden below the layer, as well as other finds such as pottery and tiles. The largest stones are ca 40x20x10 cm, most about half that size.
