This block was opened up to investigate the mounts in the front part of the stoa. These are on the west end considerably lower than then inside of the building. Excavations will be executed in one block.

The soil was more or less the same as in the rest of the stoa; yellowish brown, few cobble size stones, medium hard.

Finds were not especially rich, yet more than expected in such a shallow layer. Quiet a deal of tiles, some pottery (small fragments), a piece of lead, some shell fragments and 2 small pieces of ancient glass.

A much unexpected find in this trench was a low wall going on the diagonal (NW-SE) in the middle of the trench (ca 1 meter long). It is probably Roman due to the resemblance to the other walls in the stoa, but the orientation seems to be off. The finds on the other hand points to a Roman stratum.
