Level immediately below block 9. Possible floor level or older phase below floor level. Finds from block is divided into 1x1 m squares, according to matrix units. Soil samples are taken from each square. Begin removing H23 which contains some large pieces of charcoal. Soil is coarse, lumpy and hard packed. H22 contins charcoal fragment of a bronze object (nail?) and a steatite spindle whorl. Immediately to the W of feature 13, along wall 45, top of a group of flat stone slabs (sort of paving?) become visible. G23 contains fragments of two terracotta lamps. F-G23 has a platform, probably a stand for a large storage vessel, similar to feature 17, built against wall 47. G22 contains more material than the other units, among the finds are nearly half, large stone mortar, a bronze coin, a TC weight and more lead. Excavation in block stops at level where soil compaction becomes more loose. At this level S wall of room is resting on soil, while fundaments of wall 46 continue down which indicate at least two different activity and building phases of the room.
